You need IT to help reach your business goals.

Buy because IT can be such a mystery to management and owners - often times the people involved in  IT support are able to waste time money pursuing projects and ideas that don't increase profitability or reduce expenses.

While necessary, IT can sometimes take on a life of it's own within the company and become a parasitic leech that consumes work and money - you need to keep your IT moving forward  by asking the following questions:

Will this help us make money?

Will this help us reduce expenses?

Will this help us reduce the dependency on IT support?

Will this be maintainable? By normal people?

Can't answer those questions positively? Then you need to stop the IT project and move forward in a different direction.
